NEBDN Diploma course structure

The NEBDN Diploma is a 12 to 18 month course consisting of both practical and written assessments. With a quarter of a century of working and teaching in the dental care industry the Dental Nursing Academy accommodates the theoretical aspects of the training while the practical components are carried out and completed in the workplace. The practical work is overseen by experienced mentors who work tirelessly to help each student to complete a Record of experience portfolio. This is done online with your mentor and marked by your tutors. The NEBDN Diploma is modular, and each module counts toward a log called the “record of experience”. The practical aspect of the course is mandatory and must be completed before the theory exams can  be sat. There are two examinations that form part of the NEBDN the first of which must be passed before being able to take the second exam. The second examination is the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).  Exams are sat in both April and November each year.

Once passed, students who complete the NEBDN Diploma are eligible to register with GDC as qualified Dental Care Professionals.

As a nationally recognised qualification, the NEBDN opens up many potential career opportunities and serves as a platform for further study and training. Many students who pass the NEBDN study dental care to degree level.
