Whether you’re looking for a change of career or are just starting out in the working world, dental nursing is the perfect choice for those who have a keen interest in health care. If you’re well-organised, work well in a team, and love people, then you may well be suited to life as a dental nurse.
However, before you imagine yourself mixing material, supporting the dentist, and making patients feel both welcomed and relaxed, there’s the not so small aspect of getting qualified. In other words….training!
Of course, there is a wide range of training programs that you can register for, from salaried employment contracts with full-time training through to online distance learning courses, and apprenticeships for beginners. In fact, when you start to delve into the possibilities, it’s understandable that you may feel a little overwhelmed.
With this in mind, we’re going to talk about why you might want to register with us at the Dental Nursing Academy. Okay, so this may seem like a shameless plug, but bear with us because our training does have a wide range of advantages that students will benefit from. So what exactly are they? Let’s take a look….
Kick-starting your professional development
In August of this year, the General Dental Council are making changes to continuing professional development (CPD), where the focus is going to be on the quality of CPD rather than the quantity. This means that dental nurses are required to complete 50 hours of verifiable CPD over a 5 year period. Here at the Dental Nursing Academy, when you enroll on a course, we’ll kick-start you on your journey by providing you with 2 CPD courses – one in impression-taking and the other in first-aid/CPR. These are included in the enrollment fee and are both verifiable CPD’s, so right from the start they can be offset against your ongoing development program.
Great incentives for dental practices to hire
While we give you all the tools to help you find a dental practice such as interview handling and CV writing skills (more about this later) we also have some great incentives for dental practices to hire you. When practices decide to take on nurses from the Dental Nursing Academy, we’ll give them 50% off in-house bls/cpr training when we come to their practice. This can be quite a saving in the long term especially during the first 24 months when in-house training can be frequent. In the past, we’ve found this to be an attractive proposition to potential employers, and one that you’ll likely benefit from.
Full recruitment support
While we can’t always guarantee 100% employment, we offer the next best thing. What if we told you that as well as great training we give you full recruitment support from industry specialists? It’s true! We have a dedicated team of industry professionals who will do everything they can to find a suitable practice for you. In addition to helping you with interview techniques, interview role play, and your CV, we’re in regular contact with dental surgeries regarding vacancies. So when any new posts come up, you can rest assured that we’re on it! As a result, many of our students find their dream placement and that’s something we’re really proud of.
So there you have it, 3 great benefits you’ll get when you enroll with us. To find out more about what the Dental Nursing Academy can offer you, contact us for information on 020 3875 6569 today and take the first steps towards a new and rewarding career.
